Lakovar

Lakovar Sans began with a single word. Inspired by the lettering of a historic LAKOVAR sign on a building in Plzeň, Czechia, it transforms the character of the original letterforms into a contemporary humanist sans serif. Rather than reviving the original shapes, the typeface reinterprets them through a modern lens – preserving their distinctiveness, warmth, and spirit.

Wide proportions, open counters, and subtle humanist details shape its identity. The result is a typeface with a confident, monumental presence that remains approachable and highly legible. While primarily intended for display use, Lakovar Sans retains enough clarity and balance to work well in larger text settings and information-rich environments.

The family includes an extended Latin character set together with stylistic alternates, ligatures, tabular figures, arrows, symbols, and other OpenType features, making it suitable for a wide range of design projects.
